I love this car, the bumper truly does it for me. Hey I was wondering… I drive a 2010 Jetta and I see deals around me for e36’s for 5000$. Financially wise any car is a bad investment but man this my dream car realistically how much maintenance will I have to cover? First things I plan on changing would prob et alternator and radiator
As a first car, I don’t imagine you’ll find a car in perfect condition but the cars are easy to work on and you can find tons of information and DIY videos on YouTube so you should be able to tackle everything. I plan on buying my kids an E36 as a first car and just maintaining it. I’ve owned E36’s since 2000 and have loved them! As a previous E36 owner….no. I dunno, maybe others have had better luck but I’ve owned 5 different generations of BMW and the E36 was by FAR the worst in terms of reliability, and build quality. I’ve never really had any other issues with any of my other cars but the E36 was just constant. Unfortunately, this is a 30+ year old car in Canada, so if you can travel to get a good one, or throughly inspect one in your area for rust, you’ll be golden.
